Befriending Your Inner Soother

£3.00

This Internal Family Systems practice will help you befriend one of your protective parts: the Soother. This protector helps you numb out, avoid or distract from some kind of pain, whether that's feeling stressed, anxious, upset or lonely. In the IFS model, the part who feels that pain is a young, hurt, vulnerable part. And the Soother is just trying to help them feel better, using substances like alcohol, cigarettes, sugary foods, or activities like shopping, over-exercising/working or binge-watching Netflix. Dan guides you through a short but powerful imagery exercise, which is designed to help you understand and befriend this well-meaning but tricky part. Learning to treat them with curiosity and compassion, not judgement and frustration, is key to helping the part soften and change.
