CALM Meditation for Depression
This practice is drawn from the internal family systems (IFS) model – and will help you if you're struggling with depression or low mood. CALM is an acronym for Curiosity, Acceptance, Love and Mindfulness and combines breathwork, nervous-system regulation and inner-child healing. This practice is focused on helping you with depression, but it will be helpful if you are struggling with any kind of painful emotion. CALM will help you connect with and comfort the part of you who is feeling so sad and down right now – your inner child. You will be guided through speaking with this sad, hurt part of you, before sending them love, warmth and compassion. This will help them feel seen, validated and comforted – and that will allow you to feel calmer and more at peace.
